Yesterday I picked violets
delicate and covered with dew.
Their tiny perfect forms
made me think of you.
The deepness of their purple
so velvet to the touch,
Reminded me that I loved
you so very, very much.

A tiny flower peeking from the ground
with long tender stem.
Glistening in the morning sun
I found a lot of them.
Then I remembered you long ago
planning our wedding day.
I heard when you said
"I want flowers in my bouquet."

They are so pretty and scented
with just a hint of morning dew.
Though you're now gone from my life,
they made me think of you.
So I stooped to pick them,
to take them home with me.
A tear ran down my cheek
I could barely see.

The violets are in a cup
by our lonely bed to stay,
To remind me of the violets
you had in your bouquet.
